Self-Hosting is accomplished by you, the website owner, designing, up-dating, and maintaining your own website, instead of paying $18 an hour for Friendly Computer Services to do so.

 

Friendly Computer Services Self-Host package provides your choice of Domain Name and eMail addresses and the server computer webspace for you to host your website within but, you'll require web-design software such as "Microsoft Front Page" with which to develop and publish your website pages.


        For your website to be search engine accessible, you'll require knowledge of linking protocol, page and graphic optimization, meta-tags, keywords, international browser compatibility limitations, etc..  If you intend your website to contain logos, fotos or illustrations of whatever kind, you'll require suitable graphic-arts software and possibly a scanner.


        A private, password-secure, internet connection is required to post your files from and, a considerable amount of patience and tolerance is advised, as average internet connection speeds permit the posting of only approximately 4 megabytes of website information per hour, during which posting time, the internet connection cannot be used for browsing or eMail downloading, without interrupting the website publication process.
