ALPHANUMERIC  CHARACTERS

"alphabetical and numeric characters"

    Specifically, alphanumeric refers to combined usage of any of the twenty-six characters of the English Alphabet with any of the ten English Numerals.

The 26 English Alphabet Characters:
A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z

The 10 English Numerals:
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

    Simply stated, the words Alphabet and Numeric are combined in one word, that word being  alphanumeric.

    Website addresses may contain any unique combination of sixty-seven or less English Alphabet characters and or English Numerals.  In addition, three special characters may be used, they being the hyphen "-", the underscore "_" and the tilde "~", the limitation being that no website address may consist of ONLY hyphen, underscore, or tilde characters.  Because website addresses may NOT contain spaces, "  " as in www.your name 1st.com, it is common to use a hyphen or an underscore in place of a space, such as "www.your-name-1st.com" or "www.your_name_1st.com".
 
    An eMail or website address may consist of all alphabetical or all numeric characters or a combination of alphabet and numeric characters; also, it may contain one or more tilde, hyphen, or underscore characters.
